Diet for gastritis: basic rules

When it comes to organizing a diet for gastritis at home, the gastroenterologist advises patients to adhere to five key rules.

  1. Food processing. For gastritis, food must be cooked. Even raw vegetables and fruits are an exceptional case. Meat and fish are not consumed in pieces. These products are separated from bones, skin, tendons and prepared in the form of meatballs, cutlets, rolls.
  2. Partial menu. Food for gastritis should be frequent. But you have to eat in small meals, at regular intervals. Ideally, the patient eats four to five times a day every three hours. The last meal is no later than 19: 00. Patients diagnosed with gastritis should chew all food well.
  3. Drink plenty of fluids. With gastritis you need to drink a lot. Especially alkaline drinks. The following waters are suitable for patients with gastritis: "Essentuki", "Borzhomi", "Mirgorodskaya". To remove carbon dioxide, the bottle is unplugged and placed in a bowl of warm water for about 20 minutes. Such a drink is useful before meals. In addition to medicinal water, patients with gastritis were shown compotes of dried fruits and fresh berries.
  4. First courses. Soups are mandatory in the diet of patients with gastritis. However, preference is given to vegetarian recipes or a second or third lean meat soup.
  5. Cooking food. Patients with gastritis are forbidden to eat very hot or very cold food. Food can be steamed, cooked or baked without crust. Nothing fried, pickled, canned or pickled with a diagnosis of gastritis is impossible. The porridge is cooked in water or half a milk without butter. Moreover, in the phase of exacerbation of gastritis and in the presence of serious clinical symptoms, it is better to follow the cooking recommendations, prescribed by therapeutic diet no. 1. Developed by Manuel Pevzner. It is especially desirable to eat food in pure form. The products are brought into a state of souffle or pate sieve, as well as a blender. Table No. 1 is usually prescribed during exacerbations of peptic ulcer disease.

The diet for gastritis in many ways resembles the menu that is recommended for children in the first years of life. There is no room for greasy, fried and sweet things. Dishes are prepared without spices and with a minimal amount of aromatic spices. And to facilitate the process of digestion, food is chopped as much as possible.

Principles of a low acid diet

The main task of the diet in this type of gastritis is to stimulate the production of enzymes and acids in the stomach, to accelerate the passage of food into the intestines.

Preference should be given to pureed and liquid foods, but, unlike other forms of gastritis, acidic foods are acceptable, for example, kefir, fresh cottage cheese, lemon fruit. Outside the period of deterioration, you can even eat fried foods, but strictly without breading and limiting the amount of oil. The temperature of food should not be higher than 60 degrees and lower than 15. The content of calories in the daily diet is up to 2500-3000 kcal.

Dietary principles for high acid gastritis

Regardless of the causes of gastritis, it is important to adhere to a diet when treating gastritis with high acidity.

It is similar to the treatment of the acute phase: no fried, salted, smoked, spicy foods, lots of liquid and pureed foods, small portions. The products should not provoke the secretion of gastric juice, stay in the stomach for a long time and additionally irritate the mucous membrane. The principles of the diet are almost identical to the diet for acute gastritis, however, cutlets, meatballs are introduced into the diet, the daily salt intake is slightly increased (up to 8 g) and bakery products are allowed. It is best to steam, stew, cook or bake food, eat it warm and chew it thoroughly.

The usual calorie intake for gastritis with high acidity is 2200–2500 kcal. Vitamin complexes are often additionally prescribed to the patient to compensate for the vitamin deficiency.

Dietary principles for acute illness

If the disease worsens, then it would be reasonable to completely exclude any diet of the patient during that period and rest his digestive system. In case the acute form of the disease is caused by poisoning or taking certain medications, you must first rinse the gastrointestinal tract and cause vomiting.

On the first day, drinking warm liquids and tea was shown. The next day, if the patient's condition improves, he can gradually begin the process of feeding liquid food. Initially, the use of liquid soups made from milk and cereals, meat and fish porridges is recommended. Also allowed:

  • weak tea,
  • decoctions,

To cook the stew you need to take 300 g of potatoes, 150 g of zucchini, 100 g of carrots, 2 tbsp. l. vegetable oil, 1 liter of water, carrot juice.

Zucchini and carrots are washed, cut into wedges and sautéed with oil. The potatoes are washed, peeled, cut into large slices, poured over with water and cooked until soft. Stewed vegetables are added to ready-made potatoes with soup, salted, put on low heat for 10 minutes.

Cabbage casserole

The pan is prepared from 150g of cabbage, 2 tbsp. l. semolina, 1 egg white, 35 ml of milk, 1 tbsp. l. vegetable oil.

Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl and let the semolina swell for 20 minutes. The cabbage is finely chopped and combined with the resulting mixture. The baking dish is lubricated with vegetable oil and placed in a preheated oven, baking until soft.

Consequences of non-compliance with the child

In case of refusal to adhere to the diet for any type of gastritis, the patient may face the following problems:

  • diseases of the liver, pancreas, duodenum, colon and small intestine (as a result of impaired gastric function);
